Privacy & Cookie Policy

This policy explains what personal data ShareIN.ie collects, why, and what your rights are. We keep it short and in plain English on purpose.

Who we are

ShareIN.ie is operated from Dublin, Ireland. We are the data controller for the personal data described in this policy. You can reach us at contact@sharein.ie about anything in it, including the rights listed below.

What we collect

• Account data — your email address and the name you choose to display.
• Listings — the property details, photos and text you post.
• Messages — conversations you have with other users through ShareIN chat.
• Community posts — threads and replies you post in the community section.

We do not collect payment details (we don't handle payments) and we don't run advertising trackers.

How we use it

• To run the service: show listings, deliver messages, sign you in.
• To keep the platform safe: investigate reports of scams or abuse.
• To notify you (for example, an email when you receive a new message) — where you'd reasonably expect it.

We do not sell your data, and we don't share it with third parties for their marketing.

Why we're allowed to use it (legal basis)

Data protection law requires us to have a legal basis for each thing we do with your data. Ours are:

• Performance of a contract — running your account, publishing your listings and delivering your messages. Without this data we cannot provide the service you signed up for.
• Legitimate interests— keeping the site safe and free of scams, investigating reports, and basic counts such as how many times a listing was viewed. We've considered your privacy against those interests and kept the data to a minimum.
• Consent — saved-search alert emails, which you switch on yourself and can switch off at any time.
• Legal obligation — where we have to keep or hand over information, for example responding to a lawful request.

Where it's stored

ShareIN runs on trusted infrastructure providers: Supabase (database, authentication and file storage), Vercel (website hosting) and Resend (email delivery — used only to send you notifications such as new messages or alerts you asked for). These providers process data on our behalf under written data processing terms.

Our database and uploaded photos are stored in the European Union (Supabase, West EU region).

Vercel and Resend are US-based companies, so some data — page requests and the contents of notification emails — may be processed outside the European Economic Area. Those transfers rely on the safeguards allowed under GDPR Chapter V: the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses. You can ask us for details of these safeguards at any time.

How long we keep it

• Listings stop appearing in search 60 days after posting. The record itself stays in our database so you can relist it, until you delete it or ask us to.
• Account data and messages are kept while your account exists.
• There is no self-service account deletion yet. Email us and we will delete your account and personal data, and confirm when it's done.

Cookies

ShareIN uses only essential cookies— the ones needed to keep you signed in. We don't use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. Because of that, you won't see a cookie consent pop-up here: consent is only required for non-essential cookies, and we don't have any. If that ever changes (for example, if we add analytics), we'll update this policy and ask for your consent first.

Your rights (GDPR)

Under EU data protection law you can ask us to:

• Give you a copy of the personal data we hold about you;
• Correct inaccurate data;
• Delete your data ("right to be forgotten");
• Restrict or object to certain processing;
• Export your data in a portable format.

To make a request, email contact@sharein.iefrom the email address on your account. We'll respond within one month.

If you're not happy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Data Protection Commission (dataprotection.ie), Ireland's supervisory authority.
